(MENAFN - Arab News) Riyadh Gov. Prince Sattam, who is also head of the Supreme Committee on Urban Security (SCFUS), presided over the committee's second meeting attended by officials and members of the committee to discuss a strategy for maintaining security in the capital. Prince Mohammad bin Saad, deputy Riyadh governor, was also present.
Member of the committee Ibrahim Al-Sultan in his briefing said the Urban Security in the Capital strategic plan which is produced by the commission in cooperation with security personnel in the city focuses on strengthening cooperation between planning and security authorities in order to provide a secured and civilized environment in the city.
Al-Sultan, who is also president of the projects and planning center at the commission, presented an executive strategic plan that includes the tasks of the security personnel and creating a database of information on crimes in the city in addition to the enhancement of the use of new information technology communication.
It also works for upgrading the level of training for security personnel and improving existing procedures to maintain the responsibilities of these authorities.
He said the planning department will also work to increase protection from crimes through environmental urban planning and conduct special studies to evaluate the security risks and provide an appropriate environment for citizens to contribute toward security.
The official stated the strategy focuses on boosting urban security through a number of plans and programs that were prepared with the participation of 17 government and charitable agencies that aims to reduce unemployment and poverty in the city.
The meeting recommended the immediate implementation of the plan. The supreme committee has agreed on the implementation of the housing registration project in Riyadh that aims to connect tenant information with the locations of their residences and implementing a mechanism that would allow for any changes to such data. This would support planning, security and social efforts.
It was also agreed to also establish a joint operations room for the security and services sectors to guarantee the quick exchange of information and data. It also works to unify efforts and upgrade the level of cooperation between them, in addition to facilitating quick response to all reports in the city, especially emergency cases.
