(MENAFN - Jordan Times) Criminal Court Prosecutor Qahtah Qawaqzeh has charged an 18-year-old man from Maan with the premeditated murder of his father, official sources said.
The suspect, who was not identified, reportedly confessed to stabbing his father to death over financial matters, a senior official source told The Jordan Times.
"The suspect said he had an argument with his father because he refused to give him money, so he stabbed him to death," the source added.
The defendant then dumped the victim in a deserted area in Maan, where a passer-by found the decomposing body five days later and alerted the authorities.
Qawaqzeh also charged the defendant's friend, who had also been investigated in connection with the killing, with molestation but cleared him of complicity in the murder.
"The investigation proved that the defendant's friend had nothing to do with the incident but that he had been involved in sexual activities with the defendant when he was a minor," the source explained.
Meanwhile, an 18-year-old woman who was reportedly stabbed by her uncle on Saturday for refusing to marry his son, was still in hospital in critical condition on Monday.
"The victim remains at the intensive care unit at Al Bashir Hospital, listed in critical condition," a senior official source said.
The victim, who was not identified by officials, was reportedly stabbed over 30 times by her uncle following an argument over a marriage proposal by his son.
In his initial testimony to the police, the suspect said the victim had informed him that she did not wish to marry his son and did not love him, which angered him so he stabbed her repeatedly with a knife.
The suspect then headed to a nearby police station and turned himself in.
