(MENAFN - Khaleej Times) Three babies were found abandoned in various areas of Sharjah during the last six days.

A five-month-old boy was found on April 3, a two-month-old girl on April 5 and a one-week-old girl on April 7.

A Sharjah Police source told Khaleej Times that the boy, wrapped in a blanket, was found in a stroller by a passerby on a street during the early hours. The child's clothes and a milk bottle was also in the stroller. The police rushed the baby to the Al Qasimi Hospital.

The two-month-old girl was spotted at the entrance of a public park in Abu Shaghara area while the week-old baby was found wrapped in a piece of cloth at the entrance of a villa. The residents in the two cases notified the police who placed the girls in the care of Al Qasimi Hospital staff.

The police said investigations are on and they are searching for the parents of the three babies.

Nemea Al Nakhi, head of Social Service Office at Al Qasimi Hospital, said the three babies were brought there in the last six days and they were all provided medical check-ups, the necessary treatments, as well as best care.

The hospital has received a number of abandoned children this year, most aged between a week to a maximum of two months. "I can't understand how a mother could abandon a five months baby who recognises her and she attached to him," said Al Nakhi.

She added that the baby boy looks like an Arab child, while the two girls have Filipino looks.

The boy was transferred after four days to the social services department for sheltering and other procedures, and the week-old infant followed him. Both are in good condition and are healthy.

The two-month-old baby girl is still receiving treatment at the hospital for dehydration and precutionary checks.
