(MENAFN - Khaleej Times) Dubai's Shaikh Zayed Road will literally open the road to peace on Friday when the emirate holds a massive peace march ahead of the first ever Dubai International Peace Convention that strives for global unity through peace.
Colourful hot air balloons, parachutes, sky divers and choppers will beautify the skies of Dubai as numerous bikers and several fancy cars will drive across the prominent highway of Dubai with the flags of peace, organisers said.
Ten sky divers bearing the peace flags will descend from choppers near the Emirates Towers. They will be joined by about 20 horses, 200 fancy cars and 500 bikers soon after the march starts after 4pm.
Tens of thousands of people are expected participate in the peace march that will cover the stretch of Shaikh Zayed Road from the World Trade Centre till Safa Park. People from various walks of life, nationalities and ideologies are invited to join this march for peace, the organisers said. The peace march and the convention are initiatives of the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum World Peace Award that aims at honouring people who have contributed to world peace, promoting dialogue between different faiths, and developing of global peace and stability.
The three-day convention, which will begin on April 12, will see the participation of Islamic scholars from across the world. The organisers said they would also visit patients in government hospitals and hold other activities in the run up to the convention, which will be held at the Dubai International Convention Centre. The convention will also feature a peace exhibition, bazaar and kids corner.
