(MENAFN Press) Annual Event is 'Platform for Cultural Exchange with Gulf', Says Singapore

Middle East-based travellers in search of gastronomic nirvana are headed straight to Singapore, which is, from 23 April through 3 May, celebrating the sixteenth running of the World Gourmet Summit, its globally-recognized annual food and beverage extravaganza.
This year's event, which is expected to attract more than 10,000 attendees, carries the theme 'A Heritage of Flavours' and will see many of the world's Master chefs gather in Southeast Asia's commercial and cultural capital for ten days epicurean delight.
Inaugurated in 1997 as part of Singapore Tourism Board's pioneering initiative to establish Singapore as a culinary destination, the World Gourmet Summit has successfully evolved into a globally recognised gastronomic event “ World Gourmet Series.
Encompassing a series of dazzling events such as the Restaurant Experience, Awards of Excellence and World Gourmet Summit, the World Gourmet Series has seen more than 140,000 guests attend over the past 15 years.
Every year, a constellation of stars of the culinary world arrives to Singapore's shores and whip up delicious, delightful, delectable, and desirable cuisine for discerning individuals who appreciate fine cuisine and unique dining experiences.
"We expect the Gulf to be well represented at this year's World Gourmet Summit," said Mohamed Hafez Marican, STB Area Director, Middle East and Africa. "The event continues to be a platform for culinary, but also cultural, exchange between Singaporeans and, in this case, the people of the Gulf. World Gourmet Summit is an event we are proud to promote to our friends across the Middle East region."
In late 2011, Singapore hosted a Global Chef Exchange to which two top UAE-based chefs were invited to co-create delicious delights that blend Singapore's sophisticated culinary heritage with the Gulf's own rich tradition.
