Brazil's Embraer posts USD94.6m loss in Q4 

(MENAFN) Brazilian planemaker Embraer SA reported a quarterly net loss, after booking a provision for the possible return of planes from AMR Corp., Bloomberg reported.

Embraer said it swung to a USD94.6 million net loss in the fourth quarter from a USD114.04 million profit a year earlier.

The world's fourth largest planmaker also reported a 9 percent increase in sales to USD2 billion in the quarter in from USD1.8 billion a year earlier. Embraer's order backlog was at USD15.4 billion at the end of last year.

The company said it set aside USD363.3 million for losses related to the possible return of 216 regional jets it sold to AMR and are now operated by American Eagle, American Airlines Inc.'s (AMR1) regional carrier.

USD319.75 million of the total are directly related to the likely return of these aircraft, while the rest are additional provisions related to other regional jets from Embraer's ERJ-145 family, including air planes operated by Mesa Air Group.
