(MENAFN - Arab Times) An 18-year-old Egyptian girl, who had earlier tried to commit suicide by jumping from their first floor flat, is refusing to go home as she no longer trusts her mother and brother, reports Al-Rai daily.
The girl had jumped from their flat after her mother and brother introduced a stranger to her as her husband. She had suffered multiple fractures after the fall and her family had called the Operations Department of the Interior Ministry and said she had tried to kill herself.
The girl was taken to Al-Razi Hospital where she remained for nearly 19 days and underwent several surgeries. Strangely, nobody visited her during her stay in the hospital, said a source, adding when she recovered sufficiently, she told the staff that she didn't intend to kill herself and that she wanted to escape after learning about her 'stranger husband.'
The source said the girl's brother came to take her home before the arrival of securitymen and when she asked him to show the marriage contract, he said she was divorced. The girl did not get convinced, however, because the brother could not produce any document to show the marriage or divorce. She, therefore, refuses to go home and says she cannot trust her mother or brother.
In another story, a Pakistani woman was rushed to the Intensive Care Unit of Mubarak Al-Kabir Hospital after she tried to commit suicide by swallowing a large number of pills, reports Al-Rai daily.
A case of attempted suicide was registered against her at Rumaithiya Police Station.
