(MENAFN - Arab Times) A Filipina waiting for taxi with her husband in Salmiya was kidnapped and allegedly raped by two youths posing as policemen Sunday night.

The victim, Marichris, said she was taken to a tent in Jahra, beaten and sodomized by the youths as she was having 'menses'.

She spent the whole day there before they abandoned her taking away all her belongings, after which she scrambled to the main road and flagged down a taxi, Marichris added. She reached home Monday evening and was immediately admitted to the hospital.

Speaking to the Arab Times, Marichris' husband, Carlito, said the incident took place at midnight, when his wife was leaving for Burger King in Mubarak Al Salem Street, Salimya, for her night shift.

The couple were waiting by the main road near Al Mughaira Street in Salmiya, Block 10, when a grey car, the model or registration number of which escaped Carlito's attention, pulled up, "and two men in it, wearing dishdashas without head gear, identified themselves as policemen and demanded our Civil Ids.'

Marichris has since provided the police the registration number of the car, which she managed to take note of during her travail in Jahra.

Carlito described one of the youths as medium built, clean shaven with light moustache and close cropped hair, and the other as thin with longish, curly hair, who was shiftily engrossed in his mobile phone as if fearful of revealing his appearance.

The medium-built youth then asked for the couple's marriage certificate, a copy of which Carlito produced from his wallet. Claiming the copy was illegible, he ordered Marichris into the car, and asked Carlito to fetch the original certificate from the house. Carlito declined to leave his wife with the youth, and suggested that all of them go to the apartment, 3-minute walk from the road, in the car. The youths conceded.

At the apartment, the medium-built guy accompanied Carlito to his 8th-floor flat, while Marichris was forced to be in the car with the other abductor despite her husband's protests.

Inside the lift, the youth frisked Carlito to ensure he was not armed. As soon as they entered the flat, the youth grabbed the flat keys, and checked the rooms. Another Filipino, who shares the flat with the Carlitos, was questioned by the youth, who then snatched Carlito's phone, and gave him two minutes to find the certificate. When the husband busied himself looking for the document, the youth gave the slip. Carlito and his flat-mate rushed down but the car was already gone.

Carlito lodged a complaint with the Rumaithiya police, where he says he received a dull response before high-ranking officers were notified with the interference of the Burger King Management.

Monday morning Carlito went to the Philippines Embassy and was promised legal support to follow up the case.

Meanwhile, the police said that an Indian couple had a similar experience at the Avenues three days prior to the abduction of Marichris, and they suspect the two cases to be linked.

The Carlitos hail from Manila, and were married in Kuwait in 2007 through their embassy here.
The police are investigating based on the information given by Marichris about the youths.
