(MENAFN - Khaleej Times) A manager, 37, was sentenced to three months in jail on Monday for placing a camera in a common restroom at his workplace.
The Syrian department manager will be deported after serving his jail term, the court ordered. He has been on trial on charges of attempted molestation and breach of others' decency.
It is believed that he had placed the camera in the restroom to film a female staff. But she spotted the camera and informed the police before he could take it back.
The discrepancy was exposed when a Filipina receptionist, 22, was about to use the toilet at her workplace in Jebel Ali.
She spotted a small red light flashing in a device which she removed. She was shocked when she discovered it was a video camera and a memory card. She inserted the card into a computer and saw a clip of herself about to use the restroom.
The receptionist's workmate, another Filipina secretary, 29, confirmed having seen her terrified that day in October last year.
She said that the receptionist showed her the device which contained photos and clips of her, naked in the restroom.
The defendant admitted during police interrogation and prosecution investigation that he had placed the camera on the toilet cubicle base and filmed the complainant.
