(MENAFN - Jordan Times) Police are investigating the death of a 44-year-old man whose decomposing body was found on his farm in Irbid on Sunday, official sources said.
The victim, who was not identified by officials, went missing on February 11 while heading to work in the morning at the Jordan Petroleum Refinery Company.
His family reported him missing and he was finally found on Sunday morning by a farmer who alerted authorities, a senior official source said.
A postmortem conducted by a team of pathologists found that the victim had been dead for over 10 days.
"There were no signs of violence or resistance on the victim's body and part of his arm was missing, probably bitten off by wild animals in the area," the source said.
Pathologists have determined that the victim died of respiratory failure, but the circumstances of his death remain unclear.
Coroners also found a bottle next to the victim's body that contained a beverage mixed with pesticides, the source said.
The bottle was sent along with blood and tissue samples to the criminal laboratory for further analysis, according to the source.
"The lab results will surely help us determine the cause of death," the source said.
