(MENAFN - Arab Times) Former Deputy Chairman of the Constituent Assembly, Dr Ahmed Al-Khatib said that, the emerging chaos and negative phenomenon which dictates tribalism and sectarianism as the way to reach to the Parliament was due to lack of the concept of the state, reports Al-Rai daily.

Al-Khatib said in a statement to the daily the state has contributed in one way or another to the promotion of this mess. He added the situation in the region, the sectarian issues in some countries and the rise of Islamic movements had their impact on the election in the country.

Isolated
He went on to say Kuwait cannot be isolated from events witnessed by some Arab countries. These events had a big influence on the election results in the country, he added.

He pointed out the confidence gained by Arab Spring in Arab countries and an alliance with the remnants of the previous military regimes and with the Muslim Brotherhood has been in tune with events in Kuwait.

Al-Khatib said the Muslim Brotherhood now wears a national and civilian cloak. The group is more rational and interacts perfectly with the current situation and has adopted a liberal National Democratic program because the liberals have failed to deliver what was expected of them. Now the Muslim Brotherhood will adhere to this program to show their program is real and that their doctrine will never change.

Al-Khatib says the Brotherhood succeeded in the elections but fell short in delivering goods because they imitated our program with relation to the national and democratic society although they were against it in the past. He added now is their chance to achieve something in alliance with the power.
He believes they will not engage in hostilities with other Islamic movements but will maintain their relationships with them.

He highlighted the exaggerated claims about the majority Muslim Brotherhood or the Salafi Islamists that they will cooperate when faced by challenges because any challenge that will emerge will be for both of them.

In contrast, Al-Khatib said after the so-called Liberals lost in the elections they will have to learn from their past mistakes.

He pointed out the strong showing by the Islamists in the National Assembly was because of the support they got from the Muslim Brotherhood currents
and the Salafist.

He said this shows that the Muslim Brotherhood group is smart and well-organized because they allied themselves into the fray with the Salafist in spite of their differences.

This also shows they unite in difficult times and forget their differences.
