(MENAFN - Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) The Jordan Engineers Association kicked off on Tuesday its 5th International Civil Engineering Conference, in the capital Amman, wich runs 17-19 January, and a delegation representing Kuwait Ministry of Public Works is among those taking part.
Presiding the delegation is Wael Mohammad Al-Msaed, who told KUNA such gatherings are valuable as they allow exchange of experiences and discussion of and introduction to recent developments in the field of civil engineering. Keeping up with the latest technologies is important, and technical advancement and standards is one index by which nations are weighed today, he said.
Engineer in the Mega Projects Division at the ministry Abdullah Saidan Al-Azmi for his part remarked that this is an opportunity to shed light on Kuwaiti achievements.
The engineer expressed appreciation for the efforts of the Kuwaiti diplomatic mission in facilitating the delegation's arrangements for this event, and said this would bolster cooperation between the two countries in this field.
The three-day event focuses on seven main themes and reviews 44 papers presented by specialists from 15 countries. The papers cover technical specifics related to earthquakes, transportation, water, environment and resources, construction, and sustainable development and green building.
Along with Al-Msaed and Al-Azmi, the Kuwaiti delegation also includes Salem Farraj Al-Dosiri and Mohammad Shkheir Al-Enizi.
The event was inaugurated by the Jordanian Minister of Public Works and Housing Yahya Al-Kisbi, who addressed the participants, as did Dean of Jordanian Civil Engineers Abdullah Ebeidat, with stress on importance of exchange of expertise and keeping up with the latest advancements.
The participating delegations, some 400 engineers, are from Kuwait, Iraq, Libya, Syria, Malaysia, Algeria, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, the UK, Sudan, Lebanon, Turkey, Oman, Palestine, and from the host country.
