(MENAFN - Jordan Times) Police on Saturday announced the arrest of a suspect in connection with the murder of a 42-year-old man on Thursday in Irbid.
The suspect, who was not identified by officials, reportedly confessed to murdering the victim over personal and financial disputes at 4:00am in the town of Taibeh, according to a police source.
"The suspect told investigators that an argument ensued between the two over financial and personal matters so he drew a gun and shot him on the street then fled," the source said.
The victim was rushed to a nearby hospital where he died shortly afterwards as a result of his injuries.
A postmortem conducted by pathologist Ali Shotar from the National Institute of Forensic Medicine indicated that the victim received multiple bullet wounds to his chest and stomach.
The pathologist's report also indicated that the victim received a deep stab wound to his head caused by a meat cleaver and multiple wounds on different parts of his body caused by switchblades, the source added.
Officials would not elaborate on how the suspect was arrested but said their investigations proved that "he was the prime suspect and when he was summoned for questioning he reportedly confessed to the murder".
