(MENAFN - Qatar News Agency) Qatar Petroleum's Directorate, Ras Laffan Industrial City (RLIC) has won the 'Port Authority' and 'Energy: Oil & Gas' Awards at the Annual Seatrade Middle East & Indian Subcontinent Awards 2011 held in Dubai.
RLIC has won these awards for the fourth year. It was also one of the finalists in the Corporate Social Responsibility and Shipyard of the Year categories, the Directorate announced Saturday in a media statement.
RLC Commercial Manager Abdulaziz Al Obaidli received the awards on behalf of the city. The Port Authority Award was presented by White Sea Shipping & Supply Managing Director Seraj Alali; Energy Oil & Gas Award was presented by The Institute of Marine Engineering, Science & Technology Vice-President & Member Board of Trustees David Short.
RLC also sponsored the Marine & Offshore Services Award which was presented by RLC Port Manager Captain Feisal Saad to the eventual winner P&O Maritime Services.
Ras Laffan Industrial City is a recipient of the 2007, 2009 and 2010 'Port Authority award' and 2008, 2009 and 2010 'Energy: Oil & Gas Award' and 2009 'Environment Protection award'.
Seatrade awards recognize the achievements in maritime safety and the environment, ship and port operations and efficiency, security and financing. It is considered the 'Oscars' of the maritime world.
The winners were honoured at a gala dinner attended by 800 senior executives of the region's maritime and related industries in Dubai on October 17.
Ras Laffan City is home to the world s largest LNG (Liquefied Natural Gas) and GTL (Gas-to-Liquids) projects, which makes Qatar the GTL capital of the world and the largest producer and exporter of LNG, capable to export 77 million tonnes of LNG per year from Ras Laffan Port to international markets.
