(MENAFN - Asia Pulse) Entropic Communications, Inc. (Nasdaq:ENTR), a leading provider of silicon and software solutions to enable connected home entertainment, and H3C Technologies Co., Limited, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Hewlett-Packard Company (NYSE:HPQ), and a leading global supplier of IP-based products and solutions, today announced a partnership to deliver next generation broadband access solutions to enable the delivery of both video and broadband services to subscribers in multi-dwelling units (MDUs) over the existing coaxial cable.

Powered by Entropic's industry leading c.LINK(R) Broadband Access silicon, H3C has developed the EPCN 2.0, a universal broadband system, that supports an optical to coax platform for internet protocol (IP) delivery.

China's State Administration of Radio, Film and Television (SARFT) is actively promoting Ethernet-over-Coax (EoC) solutions to enable bi-directional communication on all cable television networks throughout China.

H3C is a current market leader with their EPCN solution based on low frequency technology, which has been deployed in large volume and in full compliance with SARFT requirements. Through this technology collaboration with Entropic, H3C will evolve their existing EPCN product line to include high radio frequency (RF) transmission to service passive cable networks in SARFT's Next Generation Broadcasting (NGB) requirements.

The c.LINK Broadband Access solution, based on Entropic's field-proven MoCA(R) (Multimedia over Coax) 1.1 single-chip silicon, is an ideal technology to address the China EoC market. It is a cost-competitive solution for operators that performs 60-percent faster on coaxial cable than current c.LINK implementations and enables higher throughput with additional channels.

"As the MSOs' fiber deployment moves closer to the end subscriber and the cable infrastructure becomes an all-passive network, Entropic's c.LINK technology becomes even more ideal for our new EPCN platform as it provides a performance roadmap based on the MoCA standard and helps us to better service and meet MSOs Fiber To The Basement (FTTB) requirements both now and for the future," said Mr. Liu ZhiLing, marketing director of H3C Technologies. "Entropic has already established a robust and mature EoC product portfolio in China, and has continued to invest in its China business. Our new EPCN, powered by Entropic's widely adopted and proven silicon technology, allows us to offer value-added services to our MSOs for innovative IP services that they can then deliver to their subscribers throughout China."

The c.LINK Broadband Access solution is a high RF EoC application, making it a solid solution for cable operators who plan to upgrade their networks for bi-directional communication as it can coexist with other services on the same coaxial cable, demonstrates lower susceptibility to noise and interference, and is scalable to add more channels to accommodate the broadband demands of MSOs as consumer consumption of bandwidth continues to grow.

The solution will interoperate with earlier generation c.LINK technologies, and support all IP-based applications, such as IPTV, voice over IP (VoIP) and web traffic, among others, while supporting superior latency and Quality of Service (QoS) performance attributes.

The single-chip solution is comprised of the EN3511 for the Network Controller and EN3530 for the Customer Premise Equipment (CPE.)

"We are proud to align with H3C to continue to build on our market and technology leadership with MoCA-based solutions for delivering powerful EoC solutions in China," said Tom Luan, vice president and general manager, China and Hong Kong operations, Entropic. "We are committed to leverage our investment in advanced cable transmission technologies and then share the same know-how and expertise with H3C for building out high performance solutions for servicing the broadband access market."

See the new EPCN Platform in Action during ICTC H3C in partnership with Entropic will be hosting demonstrations of this new solution during ICTC from October 18-21, 2011.

- H3C will host a live demonstration in Booth T17 during regular exhibit hours.
- Entropic will be hosting private demonstration meetings--by appointment only--during ICTC. During these sessions, visitors will have the exclusive opportunity to meet with Entropic executives to share perspectives on the EoC and connected home entertainment markets in China.
