(MENAFN - Khaleej Times) Humaid Mohammed Al Qattami, UAE Minister of Education, during a recent meeting with senior education officials, stressed the importance of communicating to private schools the need to unify their calendar with that of public schools and universities.
The minister urged private schools, especially those that follow curricula other than that of the ministry, to support the efforts of the government.
The meeting chaired by the minister saw extensive discussions on the Cabinet's decision to unify government school and university holidays as officials discussed the benefits of such a decision.
The attendees also reviewed a draft law on private education turned in by Dr Abdullah Al Amiri, advisor of the education minister who is also the head of the committee.
The minister in this respect instructed the formation of a taskforce to be presided over by counselor Rashid Al Hafiti, Chairman of the Fujairah Council for Education Care and Academic Affairs, to look into the content, articles and terms of the draft law and its text, so that it could prepare a detailed report about such a draft law and feasibility to reach a final form.
"The ministry pays great attention, and so do education councils, to the private education sector and its schools. Further, there is an intense keenness to develop and enhance that sector whereby it could achieve its goals and serve education across the country in general," the minister said.
