RNCOS: Solar Street Lighting Systems in India Growing Stupendously

May 01, 2012 (Menafn - M2 PRESSWIRE via COMTEX) --Solar street lighting system employs PV technology to convert sunlight into DC electricity through solar cells. The generated electricity can either be utilized directly during the daytime or can be stored in the batteries for usage during the night time. Due to vast untapped potential, particularly in the isolated rural regions, where grid connected electricity is not accessible, solar-based street lighting systems are the ideal options. The Indian Government is offering incentive and tariffs to augment installations of solar street lighting systems as they decrease reliance on traditional energy sources. For instance, the implementation of the Jawaharlal Nehru National Solar Mission by the government has enabled to bring stability to the power sector. Backed by all these factors, the number of solar street lighting systems is expected to grow at a CAGR of 37% during FY 2011-2014 according to a new research report by RNCOS, "Indian Solar Energy Market Analysis".
