Man allegedly hit another with car ? twice
Mar 28, 2009 (Menafn - The Times-Tribune - McClatchy-Tribune Information Services via COMTEX) --A Blakeslee man was locked up Friday in the Monroe County Correctional Facility on charges he twice hit another man with his car at the FedEx distribution center in Tobyhanna Twp.
Pocono Mountain Regional Police arrested Joseph Paige, 22, on attempted homicide and a long list of other offenses after the incident Thursday.
According to the arrest affidavit, FedEx driver Joseph Percoco of Long Pond confronted Mr. Paige in the parking lot of the FedEx center after he earlier spotted him driving erratically on Long Pond Road. Among other things, Mr. Percoco later told police, Mr. Paige passed a school bus stopping to pick up children.
"You know what you did. Stay there. I'm calling police," a witness quoted Mr. Percoco as telling Mr. Paige.
Mr. Paige, who was still in his car, pulled out of his parking space and struck Mr. Percoco, who landed on the car's hood, police said. Mr. Paige then sped through the parking lot with Mr. Percoco clinging to the hood.
After Mr. Percoco fell from the car, Mr. Paige hit him again as he tried to get away, forcing him back onto the hood. When Mr. Percoco fell from the car a second time and rolled across the pavement, Mr. Paige drove out of the parking lot, police said.
Officers arrested Mr. Paige later at his home.
He was arraigned on charges of attempted homicide, aggravated assault, simple assault, reckless endangerment, disorderly conduct and accidents involving death or injury. He was held in the county jail on 250,000 bail.
Mr. Percoco, who police said was not seriously injured, was treated at Pocono Medical Center in East Stroudsburg.
