BRIEF: American Eagle Outfitters profit up almost 50 percent

Nov 28, 2012 (Menafn - The Pittsburgh Tribune-Review - McClatchy-Tribune Information Services via COMTEX) --American Eagle Outfitters Inc. reported a 78.6 million profit for the August through October quarter, up nearly 50 percent from a year ago.

The latest profit amounts to 39 cents a share, including a 2-cent loss from discontinued operations related to the company's exit from its 77kids children's clothing business. A year ago, the South Side-based retailer reported a 52.4 million third-quarter profit, or 27 cents a share.

Sales increased 11 percent to 910 million.

"Our third quarter reflected ongoing business momentum, profitable sales growth and a leading brand and product driven customer experience, " CEO Robert Hanson said.
