EPA looks into claim against Newcrest

Mar 17, 2013 (Menafn - The Australian Financial Review - ABIX via COMTEX) --Small exploration group Gold & Copper Resources (GCR) has lodged an official complaint with the New South Wales Environmental Protection Authority (EPA) against major rival Newcrest Mining. The latter is accused of operating its Cadia Valley mining assets without the necessary permits, and the EPA says it is looking into the matter. Newcrest denies it breached the environmental protection licence, while GCR also says the EPA should not have granted an extension. GCR has brought a series of legal actions against Newcrest, and has tenements nearby.
