Jun 17, 2012 (Menafn - Tulsa World - McClatchy-Tribune Information Services via COMTEX) --A Castle woman was killed early Saturday morning when she was hit by a car while walking on Oklahoma 48 in Okfuskee County.
Lois Gauze, 67, was walking southbound in the middle of the undivided highway about three miles north of Castle just after midnight when she was struck by a 1992 Buick Le Sabre driven by Jesse Ramsey of IXL, according to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol.
Ramsey was driving northbound and unable to see Gauze because of the darkness, troopers said.
During the collision, she hit the hood of the vehicle, rolled over the roof and came to a rest on the car's trunk as the vehicle slowed to a stop 130 feet from the initial impact.
Gauze was pronounced dead at the scene by Creek County EMS, troopers said.
