BRIEF: R.I. man dies in single-car crash in Bourne
BOURNE, Nov 08, 2012 (Menafn - Cape Cod Times - McClatchy-Tribune Information Services via COMTEX) --A 25-year-old Rhode Island man was killed this morning after his car hydroplaned and crashed into a utility pole on MacArthur Boulevard (Route 28), police said.
Justin Clare was killed at about 9:20 a.m. when the 1997 Volkswagen Golf he was driving slammed into the pole about 200 feet north of Bourne Road, Bourne police Lt. Richard Tavares said.
The car appeared to have hydroplaned, hitting the utility pole and splitting it in two. Clare was trapped in the car and pronounced dead at the scene, Tavares said. He was from Coventry, R.I.
Bourne and state police and Bourne rescuers responded to the crash, Tavares said.
NStar crews on-scene had to shut off a power grid in the area to allow rescuers access to the trapped victim. The pole that was struck had live electrical wires.
Victim in the crash was , 25, of Coventry, Rhode Island.
