BRIEF: Metro & state: Tom Wilson's goal lifts Plymouth Whalers over Saginaw Spirit
Dec 28, 2012 (Menafn - Detroit Free Press - McClatchy-Tribune Information Services via COMTEX) --HOCKEY: Tom Wilson's power-play goal at 11:40 of the second period snapped a 2-2 tie, and the Plymouth Whalers posted a 4-2 victory over the Saginaw Spirit at Compuware Arena. The Whalers snapped a seven-game winless streak. Wilson and Alex Aleardi each had a goal and an assist for the Whalers, now 15-11-5-3 with 38 points -- good for second place in the Ontario Hockey League's West Division. Eric Locke scored a short-handed goal and assisted Garret Ross on a power-play goal for Saginaw (14-17-3-2). The Whalers play at home Saturday at 7:05 against London.
SWIMMING AND DIVING: The Oakland men's team ranks fourth and the women 23rd in CollegeSwimming.com's second Mid-Major Division I rankings of the season. It is the highest ranking in program history for the OU men.
