BRIEF: Penn Hills woman killed, 2 men injured in Homewood shooting
Nov 05, 2012 (Menafn - The Pittsburgh Tribune-Review - McClatchy-Tribune Information Services via COMTEX) --One woman was killed and two men were injured in a shooting in Homewood on Sunday night, Pittsburgh police said.
Officers responding a report of gunshots to the 7300 block of Monticello Street found an abandoned vehicle riddled with bullet holes in the middle of the street at about 10:40 p.m., Lt. Daniel Herrmann said.
Shortly afterward, police found another bullet-riddled vehicle in the 7100 block of Monticello, Herrmann said. Officers found a 31-year-old woman dead in the driver's seat and a 34-year-old man lying in the street on the passenger side of the car with a gunshot wound. He is in critical condition at UPMC Presbyterian, Oakland, Herrmann said.
Police later found the driver of the first vehicle, an unidentified man, also at UPMC Presbyterian in stable condition with a gunshot wound to his leg, Herrmann said.
Police believe both vehicles were stopped in the 7300 block before one or more people opened fire on them, and both drivers sped away before crashing into parked vehicles, Herrmann said.
The investigation is ongoing, Herrmann said.
