BRIEF: New Carmike movie theater in East El Paso to have ground-breaking Thursday

Nov 13, 2012 (Menafn - El Paso Times - McClatchy-Tribune Information Services via COMTEX) --Carmike Cinemas and a Dallas retail development company plan to hold a ground-breaking ceremony Thursday for a 13-screen movie theater to be built near Montana Avenue and Joe Battle Boulevard on the far East Side.

Carmike announced the project in September.

The Carmike Cinemas theater, at Montana and Justice, is to be the anchor for a shopping center which Anthony Properties plans to put at the site, the Dallas development company reported.

The new theater will hold 2,800 people and have a 600-seat, BigD auditorium, which features a three-story-high, 81-foot-wide wall-to-wall screen, Surround-Sound and digital projection. The ground-breaking ceremony is to be at 9 a.m. Thursday.
