BRIEF: D'Youville College buys former Gateway-Longview headquarters
Nov 11, 2012 (Menafn - The Buffalo News - McClatchy-Tribune Information Services via COMTEX) --D'Youville College has purchased the former headquarters of Gateway-Longview on Niagara Street for 730,000, college officials announced Saturday.
D'Youville does not have any specific plans yet for the 65,000-square-foot structure, at 605 Niagara St., between Jersey Street and Prospect Avenue, officials said.
"Depending on our needs, the facility will eventually be used for classrooms, offices and possible teaching laboratories for health care programs," college spokesman D. John Bray said in a statement.
The building was constructed in phases starting in 1890 and was originally the Buffalo Deaconess Home of the Methodist Episcopal Church.
It was later the Protestant Home for Unprotected Children, according to the statement.
Gateway-Longview, a child and family services organization, moved to its new location at 10 Symphony Circle in Buffalo last year.
The deal was handled by McGuire Development Real Estate Service Group.
