: Tullow Oil sponsors UK Charity - City Year
Oct 04, 2012 (Menafn - M2 PRESSWIRE via COMTEX) --Tullow has entered into a three year partnership with a leading youth and education charity, City Year, supporting a team of volunteers working as tutors, mentors and role models to secondary school children in one of London's most disadvantaged communities.
The team of ten young volunteers will work at Gladesmore Community School in Tottenham, north London, where they will support the academic progress of a targeted group of students who are at risk of not fulfilling their potential due to various factors such as poor behaviour and literacy levels.
Tullow's funding will also help City Year to continue expanding its operation across London and into other areas of the UK.
Commenting today, Tullow VP, External Affairs, Rosalind Kainyah, said:
"We were very impressed with City Year and the work of its volunteers, and are delighted to be partnering with them at Gladesmore. Many of Tullow's social investments focus on education and opportunities for young people, so the fact that this programme benefits students as well as the volunteers is particularly appealing to us.
We look forward to being able to contribute to City Year's continued success and growth."
