BRIEF: Greenwood Board Approves Food Contracts, Rehires Staff For Year
GREENWOOD, Aug 11, 2012 (Menafn - Times Record - McClatchy-Tribune Information Services via COMTEX) --The Greenwood School Board approved food contracts for the new school year and rehired its non-teaching staff Thursday.
As recommended by Carolyn Milligan, Greenwood School Food Service director, the board voted 6-0 to contract with Sara Lee for bread products. Under that contract, the district will pay 1.35 per 12-count package of whole wheat hamburger buns, 1.70 per 12-count package of whole wheat hot dog buns, 95 cents per loaf of whole wheat sandwich bread and 1.30 per six-count package of whole wheat deli rolls.
The board unanimously approved a milk bid from Hiland dairy with costs ranging from 16 cents a carton for orange juice to 25 cents a carton for fat-free chocolate milk.
And the board unanimously approved buying 25 percent of the district's other food purchases from Tankersley Foods and 75 percent from Sysco.
In other business, for the 2012-12 school year, the board rehired its 25 food service employees, 30 bus drivers, four bus aides and 37 maintenance/custodial staff members, including School Operations Director Jim Bynum.
