BRIEF: UAW's King to speak at Democratic convention
Sep 03, 2012 (Menafn - Detroit Free Press - McClatchy-Tribune Information Services via COMTEX) --CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- UAW President Bob King is scheduled to speak to the Democratic National Convention on Wednesday evening.
No time was given by the UAW for King's remarks at the Time Warner Cable Arena in Charlotte, but the convention is expected to run from 5 p.m. to 12:15 a.m. on Wednesday -- with the evening's featured speakers being Elizabeth Warren, the U.S. Senate candidate in Massachusetts, and former President Bill Clinton.
The roll call of states is also scheduled for Wednesday night.
Obama campaign officials have said the auto rescue in 2009 and the resurgence of Detroit's automakers will be a key part of this week's convention, which begins in earnest Tuesday at 5 p.m. and concludes with President Barack Obama's speech at Bank of America Stadium.
