Nov 10, 2012 (Menafn - The Wisconsin State Journal - McClatchy-Tribune Information Services via COMTEX) --Revenues were up slightly but profits rose substantially in the third quarter for Alliant Energy. Meanwhile, Alliant said it is close to a deal to sell RMT, its renewable energy engineering and construction subsidiary.
The Madison utility holding company, parent of Wisconsin Power & Light, on Friday reported net income of 150.7 million, or 1.36 a share, on revenues of 887.6 million for the three months that ended Sept. 30. That compared with net income of 122 million, or 1.10 a share, on 870.9 million in revenues for the 2011 third quarter.
For the first nine months, Alliant had earnings of 251.5 million on revenues of 2.3 billion, compared with earnings of 246.6 million on revenues of 2.5 billion for the same period last year.
Alliant chairwoman and chief executive Pat Kampling said the company has a letter of intent to sell Madison-based RMT, but gave no specifics. "We are currently working on the final details of the sale and expect to close in December," she told a conference call with analysts.
