BRIEF: Bibb County student cut on cheek at alternative school

Sep 10, 2012 (Menafn - The Macon Telegraph - McClatchy-Tribune Information Services via COMTEX) --A student at the alternative school at Hutchings Career Academy was cut on the face Monday, and another student there was charged in the attack.

One female student at the school used a box cutter to cut another girl in the upper left cheek about 11:45 a.m., school officials said.

The attacker was later taken into custody, charged with aggravated assault and possession of a weapon on school grounds.

The student's wound was a superficial cut and she was not hospitalized, said Donald Porter, a spokesman for the Bibb County school system.

The alternative school at Hutchings is one of three new such schools that opened this school year for students who have had troubles in school, ranging from repeated acts of bullying or fighting to selling drugs or an act of physical violence against a school employee.
