BRIEF: Professor wins teaching award
May 05, 2012 (Menafn - Ventura County Star - McClatchy-Tribune Information Services via COMTEX) --Debbie Wideroe of Oak Park, a visiting professor of communication at Pepperdine University in Malibu, was given the Charles H. Sandage Excellence in Teaching Award by the American Academy of Advertising.
Wideroe received the award at the AAA's annual conference last month in South Carolina. She is only the seventh person to receive the award since it was established 16 years ago, and only the third woman to be so honored. The Sandage Award is the most prestigious academic award given within the advertising community to educators.
In addition to her teaching position at Pepperdine, Wideroe serves as director of the Communication Division Internship Program at Pepperdine.
She also serves as president of the Wideroe Group, an entertainment marketing company specializing in branding, licensing and merchandising, retail programs, product development, promotions and celebrity outreach.
