BRIEF: SBI says govt considering Rs.4,000 crore rights issue

MUMBAI, Dec 05, 2012 (Menafn - Mint - McClatchy-Tribune Information Services via COMTEX) --State Bank of India chief financial officer (CFO) Diwakar Gupta said the lender is in talks with the government to infuse Rs.4,000 crore in the bank through a rights issue.

"The Rs.4,000 crore is enough for our current capital requirements. It will keep our capital adequacy at 13%," Gupta said on Wednesday, adding that if a rights issue is not possible because of difficult equity market conditions, the government may consider other options to infuse capital.
