Nov 14, 2012 (Menafn - AME Info - McClatchy-Tribune Information Services via COMTEX) --ORANGE JORDAN ROLLS OUT CLOUD BACKUP SERVICE: Orange Jordan has rolled out a new service offering mobile content back-up to all of its three million subscribers. The LinqUs Cloud Backup solution by Gemalto, compliant with the entire handset base, is the first in the country to allow mobile phone subscribers to save and restore their mobile data like the phonebook contacts 'in the cloud' in case of handset loss, change or damage, whether the data is stored on the SIM card or directly in the mobile handset.
RIM TO UNVEIL BLACKBERRY 10 IN JANUARY: Research In Motion has announced plans to showcase the first two of its BlackBerry 10 smartphones on January 30, with sales of the devices scheduled to commence in February, Bloomberg has reported. The rollout will finally get the BlackBerry 10 into consumers' hands after multiple product delays put the phones a year behind schedule. "We want to do it as quickly as possible," chief operating officer Kristian Tear said. Though the first phones won't go on sale simultaneously worldwide, RIM is aiming for a release on multiple continents within 30 days of the unveiling, Tear said.
TELECOM EGYPT IN TALKS TO OFFER MOBILE SERVICES: Telecom Egypt is in advanced talks with the government on a deal allowing it to offer mobile services in addition to its traditional mainstay fixed-line business, where revenue is under pressure, Reuters has reported. "The discussions are in a very mature phase," chief executive Mohamed El-Nawawy said, adding that an agreement was imminent. The company, which is 80 percent owned by the state, has been relying on its data business to boost revenue.
