Atmel reveals 30 new touch-enabled products for Windows 8

Nov 20, 2012 (Menafn - WORLDWIDE COMPUTER PRODUCTS NEWS via COMTEX) --Designer and manufacturer of microcontrollers (MCU) and touch technology solutions Atmel Corporation ATML, announced on Tuesday that its maXTouch controllers have been designed into more than 30 Windows 8 touch-enabled products, including tablets to Ultrabooks and notebook PCs.

The company disclosed that as a co-engineering collaborator with Microsoft, it helped develop high-performance touchscreen specifications for Windows 8 including finger separation, first-touch latency and support for up to 10 simultaneous touches including edge gestures.

Atmel said that its touch-enabled devices are developed by Microsoft and other leading worldwide device manufacturers, adding that most of the 30 Windows 8 projects powered by Atmel maXTouch controllers will be available by the end of this year.
