BRIEF: Power expected back in full before Monday

Nov 04, 2012 (Menafn - The Press of Atlantic City - McClatchy-Tribune Information Services via COMTEX) --Atlantic City Electric expects to restore power to all customers on barrier islands and the mainland by the end of the weekend, company representatives said Saturday.

Electricity won't come back as quickly, however, for structures damaged so badly by Hurricane Sandy that they cannot safely accept power, utility spokesman Frank Tedesco said.

That's the reason given by the company for remaining outages in Brigantine, North Wildwood, Beach Haven, the Beach Haven West section of Stafford Township, Long Beach Township, the North Beach Haven section of Long Beach Township, Tuckerton, Downe Township and parts of Atlantic City and Pleasantville, according to statistics released through Gov. Chris Christie's office.

As of 9 p.m. Saturday, 18,344 customers, or almost 4 percent, in South Jersey were without power, the numbers show.

Outages have been most widespread in Ocean County: 15,809 customers, or 31 percent, lacked power Saturday night.

Atlantic City had 1,306 outages, more than any other municipality of the 33 in Atlantic City Electric's coverage area outside Ocean County, the numbers show.
