Taylor Morris fundraiser this week
Oct 14, 2012 (Menafn - Waterloo-Cedar Falls Courier - McClatchy-Tribune Information Services via COMTEX) --CEDAR FALLS, Iowa -- A fundraiser for Cedar Falls sailor Taylor Morris, "The Unstoppable Event," is planned from 5:30 to 11 p.m. Friday at the Park Place Event Centre in Cedar Falls.
Morris, 23, who lost portions of all four limbs in a May bomb blast in Afghanistan, and his girlfriend, Danielle Kelly, plan to attend.
Ticket are 30 in advance and 35 at the door. Dinner, music and live and silent auctions are planned.
Morris told The Courier he will eventually leave the Navy under a medical retirement.
"We are raising money for medical expenses," the couple said in joint email statement. "Yes, the Navy pays for most everything now but once the Navy retires (Morris), not everything will be paid for -- housing adaptation, vehicle adaptations, and to fund equipment, activities, and daily life expenses."
