(MENAFN - Arab Times) Some Bedouns accused of inciting public revolt during demonstrations in Taima and Sulaibiya have admitted that they called for protests through Twitter to demand for the cancellation of the colored cards issued by the Central System for Remedying the Status of Illegal Residents (CSRSIR), oppose the appointment of Saleh Al-Fadhalah as head of the agency, and push for the naturalization of those included in the 1965 Census, reports Al-Rai daily quoting sources.
Sources said the prisoners denied any relation with Mohamed Walli, an Iraqi residing in London; affirming that their contact with him is only through Twitter because he supports their cause but they are against any attempt to slander the Kuwaiti government.
Meanwhile, Al-Seyassah reported that, the Ministry of Interior imbibes virtues like self-restraint, transparency, conscientiousness, objectivity and giving priority to public interests to ensure its officers carry out their duties efficiently, especially in dealing with Bedoun protesters.
In a recent press statement, the ministry said its officers have been handling Bedoun protests with utmost care since March 2011. The officers always allow the protesters to express their grievances and to fight for their rights. They use compassion, impartiality and justice as guidelines in performing their duties for the people to fully trust the security officers, the ministry added.
Directive
According to the statement, First Deputy Premier and Interior Minister Sheikh Ahmad Al-Humoud issued a directive on the proper conduct of officers, while Undersecretary General Ghazi Al-Omar closely monitors the implementation of the instruction. National security is not the responsibility of the police alone because it requires the full cooperation of the entire society. The success of any security operation depends on the level of cooperation and respect the officers get from the citizens. It is not true that security officers are just tools used by the government to oppress the people, the ministry explained.

KUWAIT CITY: The Kuwaiti military officers are in charge of protecting the countrys territorial waters from infiltrators, particularly the Iranian war ships, reports Al-Rai daily quoting Assistant Undersecretary for Border Security at the Interior Ministry Major General Sheikh Mohammad Al-Yousef Al-Sabah.
Sheikh Mohammad made the statement when he personally inspected the sea and air borders recently. He lauded the efforts exerted by the Coast Guard officers in protecting the sea against infiltrators, while refuting claims that some Iranian war ships tried to enter the territorial waters of Kuwait. He said this is not possible because a large number of officers had been deployed to sensitive locations and their activities are being monitored through a radar system.
He added the Coast Guard has 13 centers manned by 2,000 officers of various ranks and functions. He disclosed the department will soon open new stations in Bubyan, Failaka and Awhah to tighten security in the territorial waters of the country.
