Dec 02, 2012 (Menafn - The Australian Financial Review - ABIX via COMTEX) --A new TV broadcasting rights deal struck in 2011 with Seven Network, Telstra and Foxtel will mean the Australian Football League gains A1.025bn in total. CEO Andrew Demetriou says this will enable the sports body to financially support those clubs that are struggling to remain profitable or have already incurred losses. In the latter camp are the Brisbane Lions and Western Bulldogs teams. Meanwhile Demetriou also rejects any suggestion that salary cap breaches such as that at the Adelaide Crows club, penalised with A500,000, are common.
