Otterdazzle winter festival local favorite

Summer festivals are always favorites throughout the area, but winter festivals are often forgotten. Ottertail's annual winter festival, Otterdazzle, will be held all day this Saturday.
Otterdazzle has been held every year for more than a decade, and with events like the Dazzle Walk, Turkey Bowling, the Parade of Lights, chili cook-off and fireworks, the festival always gives visitors something to remember.
"We put it on for the kids as a kickoff to the holiday season," said Lori, Treasurer of the Ottertail Business and Community Association. "We try to promote being together as a family for the kids."
Most of the events will be held in the Ottertail Community Center, but events like Turkey Bowling, the Parade of Lights and fireworks will be outside.
Turkey Bowling is always one of the local favorites, Lori said.
"It's a bowling alley made out of ice, and instead of a ball, you take a frozen turkey in a mesh bag and use that to knock over pins," she said.
Prizes for top scores include turkeys, bags of potatoes and stuffing mix.
The chili cook-off is another Otterdazzle favorite, and last year, 269 guests were served. All are welcome to taste a few bowls of chili and vote on their favorites, Lori said.
The raffle is back this year, but a different format will be used for prize drawings. Tickets purchased can be put into different buckets with corresponding prizes. Top prizes include a TV, turkey dinner basket, local wine basket and a giant decorated Christmas tree.
Otterdazzle is put on by the Ottertail Business and Community Association.
