BRIEF: Police dog tracks down two wanted men Tuesday
Nov 13, 2012 (The Gazette (Menafn - Colorado Springs - McClatchy-Tribune Information Services via COMTEX) --A Colorado Springs police dog and his handler successfully tracked down two wanted men Tuesday afternoon.
The first arrested about 12:15 p.m. when officers attempted to contact a 17-year-old wanted on a felony warrant for possessing a dangerous weapon. Officers tried to arrest the teen but he ran off. Officer Andy Genta and his K-9 Vader were called to the scene and dog found the teen hiding in the shed. The teen was kicking the dog when officers arrived. The teen was taken to the hospital for minor injuries and then transported to Spring Creek Juvenile Detention Center.
The second arrest happened about 2 p.m. when police say Philip Rowe, 29, walked into the Medicine Shoppe, 2306 N. Wahsatch Ave. with a gun and demanded drugs. The robber ran out of the store and several officers, including Genta and Vader searched the area. The dog tracked down Rowe, who matched the robber's description, and police found him carrying evidence from the robbery.
