St. Mary's Hospital unveils new Prairie Heart Institute facility
DECATUR, Nov 25, 2012 (Menafn - Herald & Review - McClatchy-Tribune Information Services via COMTEX) --St. Mary's Hospital held a public unveiling of its new Prairie Heart Institute facility and Cardiovascular Diagnostic Services Department on Nov. 17, according to the hospital.
"St. Mary's new facilities bring the future of heart care to Central Illinois today," said Kevin F. Kast, President and CEO of St. Mary's Hospital. "We continue our commitment to provide exceptional care to our cardiovascular patients by providing them with the best cardiovascular team in Decatur and latest technology to meet their needs."
The hospital's new cardiac catheterization lab on its sixth floor includes a high-resolution X-ray system and a cardiac nuclear medicine camera, according to the hospital. Angiography and interventional procedures are provided in the same room.
"The new Cardiovascular Diagnostic Services Center at St. Mary's is a full-service cardiac center, performing not only cardiac catheterizations, but also nuclear medicine studies, echocardiography and percutaneous cardiac interventions when needed," said Dr. Jeffrey Trachtenberg, an attending vascular surgeon and president of the hospital's medical staff. "This state-of-the-art center is a perfect complement to the dedicated and exceptional physicians, nurses and technologists who have been treating patients with cardiac and vascular problems at St. Mary's for years."
The Prairie Heart Institute at St. Mary's is on the main floor adjacent to the lobby, and its cardiovascular team is serving patients at the hospital.
