Comcast, Verizon to cross-sell services
Nov 15, 2012 (Menafn - New Haven Register - McClatchy-Tribune Information Services via COMTEX) --Comcast and Verizon Wireless announced Wednesday that they will begin selling each other's services in much of Connecticut, extending a partnership already in place in several cities in Florida and California.
New and existing customers will be able to go into the Verizon store on Universal Drive in North Haven, for example, and see if they qualify for new offers and incentives, including Visa prepaid cards valued up to 300, a Comcast HD DVR at no added cost for six months, and/or a free 12-month upgrade to Comcast's premium Internet product Blast.
Comcast spokeswoman Laura Brubaker Crisco said it doesn't involve a "bundling" of services in bills, since "customers will still conduct all of their business (billing, customer service, etc.) with the two companies separately."
But it will allow customers of both companies to maximize services with "new choices and savings," she said.
Comcast competitor AT&T is able to offer a four- or three-service bundle of wireless, Internet, Uverse TV and land-line phone in many areas, so Comcast's move is a partial answer to that.
Verizon has struck partnership deals elsewhere in the country with the likes of Time Warner Cable. The Comcast-Verizon partnership will apply to consumers in the Hartford, Middletown, New Haven and Waterbury markets, Comcast said.
Mary McLaughlin, senior vice president of Comcast's Western New England Region, which includes Connecticut, said the plan addresses an increasingly mobile lifestyle.
"For decades, Comcast has invested in building a national network that makes our data, voice and TV services widely available," she said in a release. "Today, we're taking that a step further by giving our customers the flexibility of a great in-home experience with our Xfinity services, along with the reliability of Verizon Wireless' network while on the go."
Consumers can order Verizon Wireless products through Comcast by calling 855-704-7400, Comcast said, or get details online at www.comcast.com/vzw or www.verizonwireless.com/xfinity .
