Teradata selected by Sears for database analytics expansion and private cloud capability
Oct 22, 2012 (Menafn - WORLDWIDE COMPUTER PRODUCTS NEWS via COMTEX) --Teradata TDC, an analytic data solutions company, announced on Friday that broadline retailer Sears Holdings SHLD has refreshed its existing Teradata analytic environment with the Teradata Active Enterprise Data Warehouse Platform 6690.
The Teradata Active EDW leverages both SSD and HDD storage.
Financial details of the deployment were not available.
According to Teradata, Sears has also added the new Teradata ADW Private Cloud with Elastic Performance on Demand for on-demand business analytics. Usersare now said to be able to efficiently and economically address surges in business activity, driven by such events as the holiday shopping seasons, launch of marketing campaigns, unexpected high demand, or seasonal demand swings.
Teradata said that it is the first vendor to provide its customers with the optimised use of solid state drives (SSD) and hard disk drives (HDD), which is enabled by Teradata Virtual Storage, its intelligent storage management software. The Teradata Active EDW supports robust strategic intelligence for long-range planning and reporting and real-time operational intelligence for 'front-line' employees.
