Prep sports roundup: Sauk Center takes 3rd in state volleyball tournament
MINNEAPOLIS, Nov 11, 2012 (Menafn - St. Cloud Times - McClatchy-Tribune Information Services via COMTEX) --The Sauk Centre volleyball team captured third place at the Class 2A state volleyball tournament Saturday afternoon at the Xcel Energy Center with a 3-2 win over Belle Plaine.
The third-seeded Mainstreeters (33-1) won 23-25, 25-17, 26-24, 17-25, 15-13. Macy Weller led Sauk Centre with 23 kills and two aces, Ashley Kollman had 13 kills and 28 digs, Jena Klaphake had 59 set assists, Brianna VonWahlde had 13 kills, Kendra Zenzen had 12 kills and 11 digs and Katie Rietsma had 27 digs.
Mariena Hayden led Belle Plaine (26-9) with 20 kills and 15 digs.
SECTION 6A
SARTELL -- Sartell and Melrose dominated the meet with the Sabres coming out on top with 465 team points. The Dutchmen took second (377.5).
The top two swimmers in each event and the top four divers adavanced to the Class A state meet.
Sartell's Ellen Bloom won the 200-yard individual medley with a section-record time (2 minutes, 8.81 seconds) and also won the 100 backstroke with a section- and pool-recording setting time of 57.84. The Sabres' Gaby Hagen was second in the 200 IM (2:13.57) and won the 100 butterfly (1:00.36) to advance to state in both events.
In relays, the Sabres won the 400 freestyle (3:36.98), the 200 freestyle (1:39.56) and 200 medley (1:51.52).
Albany's Rachel Tiede won the 200 freestyle (1:58.83) and the 500 freestyle (5:24.03) to advance to state in both events. Melrose's Amanda Warzecha was second in the 50 freestyle (24.62) and won the 100 freestyle (54.04) to advance to state in both events. Melrose's Morgan Kingston won diving with 359 points.

SECTION 5A
GRAND RAPIDS -- Kasey Milstroh will represent Foley in the Class A state meet after qualifying with a first place finish in the 100 freestyle (54.06).
Milstroh also qualified in the 50 free (25.13). Milstroh was also part of the Foley 400 freestyle relay (3:40.85) and 200 freestyle relay (1:41.56) teams that both took first.
Sauk Rapids qualified two divers to the state meet. The Storm's Jackie Braun finished in second place with 365.35 points and Johanna Weber was third (349.80 points).
Monticello's Breazy Ciatti won with 370.05 points.
Other state qualifiers: Tori Brua, Foley, 200 freestyle; Alisha Stemper, Foley, 200 IM.

Princeton 34, Detroit Lakes 31
Princeton (8-4) continued its unlikely state Class 4A playoff run by beating Detroit Lakes (10-1) in four overtimes at Husky Stadium.
Princeton plays Holy Family Catholic at 4:30 p.m. Friday at the Metrodome.
Bemidji 35, Moorhead 14
Bemidji (9-3) returned to the Metrodome by beating the Spuds in the Class 5A quarterfinals at Husky Stadium.
