Veterans Affairs Selects HP to Continue Support of VistA System
Software Applications Provide Fully Automated Health Information System
PALO ALTO, CA, Nov 16, 2012 (Menafn - MARKETWIRE via COMTEX) --HP HPQ today announced it has been awarded a five-year, 39million contract from the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) tocontinue providing operations and maintenance software applicationssupport for VA's Veterans Health Information Systems and TechnologyArchitecture (VistA).
As a part of the task order under the VA T-4 contract, HP willprovide defect remediation and table maintenance for more than 100applications across the VA network, enabling the prompt, reliableresolution of patient safety issues as well as timely, complete andtested solutions. The contract extends HP's 10-year involvement withthe VistA system, and the company's relationship with the VA, whichhas spanned more than 14 years.
The VistA system provides 130 VA healthcare facilities and 783ambulatory care and community-based outpatient clinics with a fullyautomated health information system supporting the needs of veterans,clinicians and administrators. The VistA software provides automateddata processing capabilities, which enhances healthcare providers'access to veterans' healthcare information and improves theeffectiveness and efficiency of care at VA healthcare facilitiesnationwide.
