BRIEF: Thousands in Brunswick, Topsham lose power

BRUNSWICK, Nov 14, 2012 (Menafn - Portland Press Herald - McClatchy-Tribune Information Services via COMTEX) --A planned takedown of a transmission line in Brunswick for repairs took longer than expected Tuesday night, leaving more than 6,000 Central Maine Power company customers in the dark.

John Carroll, a spokesman for CMP, said crews were brought in beforehand to repair a transmission line but the work, which was expected to take no more than 20 minutes, took about an hour to finish.

Carroll said the repair work started at 7:44 p.m. and was completed about 8:45 p.m. He was not immediately sure why it took crews longer than anticipated.

Carroll said customers in the midcoast towns of Brunswick, Topsham, and Harpswell lost power during the repair.
