China Mobile H1 Sold 25mn TD Terminals

BEIJING, Aug 27, 2012 (Menafn - SinoCast Daily Business Beat via COMTEX) --China Mobile Ltd. CHL(sehk:0941) sold over 25 million TD terminals in the first half of 2012, according to a senior executive of the company today.

Meanwhile, the number of its TD terminal users is expected to exceed 60 million in the whole year, added the senior executive.

China Mobile had a total of 300 TD partners as of June, and some major brand owners such as Gionee Communication Equipment Co., Ltd., OPPO, DOOV and Better Life Commercial Chain Share Co., Ltd. (szse:002251) also entered TD industry. In addition, the types of TD terminals are being enriched. From January to July, 202 types of TD terminals were sent for test of Internet access and 189 passed the test.

Moreover, the TD chip technology and TD industry are becoming maturer and maturer. There are eight commercial TD chip providers represented by Marvell Technology Group Ltd. MRVL, Leadcore Technology Co., Ltd. and MediaTek Inc. (MTK) at present, and some international well-known manufacturers such as Qualcomm Inc. QCOM are entering the TD camp soon, said the senior executive.
