Wed. S.J. boys' and girls' roundup: Eustace rolls in field hockey final
Nov 15, 2012 (Menafn - The Philadelphia Inquirer - McClatchy-Tribune Information Services via COMTEX) --Top-seeded Bishop Eustace leaned on its upperclassmen in Wednesday afternoon's 9-0 win over No. 2 Delran in the Central Jersey Group 2 field hockey final.
Three players scored -- junior Lauren Crudele and seniors Montana Flemming, and Kelly Quinn -- and each recorded a hat trick.
The host Crusaders had last come out of the group in 2010.
SOUTH JERSEY GROUP 1. Emily DeMarco scored and set up both Marielena Dottoli goals as top-seeded St. Joseph blanked second-seeded Glassboro, 3-0, in the final.
CENTRAL JERSEY GROUP 1. Mackenzie Karcher had a goal and an assist as fifth-seeded Maple Shade took down third-seeded Haddon Heights in a 2-1 overtime win in the final.
GIRLS' SOCCER:
Carla Mancini scored twice to erase a one-goal halftime deficit as third-seeded Glassboro won, 2-1, at second-seeded Pennsville in a South Jersey Group 1 semifinal.
BOYS' SOCCER:
Two overtimes were not enough, and second-seeded Washington Township advanced on penalty kicks (4-2) over 11th seed Toms River North after the teams had battled to a 2-2 draw in a South Jersey Group 4 semifinal.
Trailing by 2-0 at the break, the Minutemen's Eric Jordan found the net twice, including in the 77th minute to even the score.
James Jackson made eight saves for Washington Township and had a crucial stop in the penalty-kick frame.
CENTRAL JERSEY GROUP 1. Adam Coyle's two second-half goals led top-seeded New Egypt to a 2-1 win over eighth-seeded Asbury Park in a quarterfinal.
