Walnut Grove Church Road Convenience Center work begins
Sep 14, 2012 (Menafn - The Herald-Sun - McClatchy-Tribune Information Services via COMTEX) --HILLSBOROUGH -- Moving of dirt and clearing has begun at the edge of the Walnut Grove Church Road Convenience Center as part of the center's renovation and modernization.
The center will be open through Monday for full service, then close until Friday, when it will reopen with only limited services for bagged household waste, motor oil, oil filters, anti-freeze and battery collection until renovation is complete.
When renovation is complete in early winter of 2013, all services will be reinstituted and new services for hazardous waste, clothing and shoe collection, used vegetable oil and more will be included.
Until then, residents may use the 24-hour drop-off sites for recycling only mixed paper, magazines, newspaper, plastic bottles, glass bottles, aluminum and steel cans, milk and juice cartons, aluminum foil and cardboard, located in the northern part of Orange County at:
--Cedar Grove Park, four miles north of Walnut Grove Convenience Center. This recycling site is TEMPORARY and will be available only during the duration of the Walnut Grove Center construction.
--Hampton Pointe, behind Home Depot in Hillsborough.
Disposal services for bulky items, electronics, white goods, tires, scrap metal, clean wood, construction waste and yard waste (no yard waste collection at Bradshaw Quarry Road Center) as well as recycling are available at the four other solid waste convenience centers.
